Radiation Oncology Care team efforts recognized

Congratulations to the Memorial Regional Cancer Center team for being awarded full accreditation by the ASTRO Accreditation Program for Excellence (APEx). We are the first cancer center in the state of Indiana to receive this accreditation, which focuses on the quality and safety policies and procedures of the radiation oncology care team.

In addition, centers must practice patient-centered care by promoting effective communication, coordinating treatment, and engaging patients and their families as partners in care. The process of becoming accredited takes up to six months and entails both a self-assessment and site visit.

The APEx accreditation “validates our practices and recognizes the efforts of our radiation oncology team to deliver patient-centered radiation oncology care,” said Katie Shively, Director, Radiation Oncology, Memorial Regional Cancer center. Click here to read the full press release.
