Memorial Hospital

An in-house chaplain serving all religious faiths (or individuals with no identified faith) is available to you and your family for prayer, consultation or other spiritual needs.

Our chaplains are available to serve you through:

  • Visiting and prayer
  • Encouragement, comfort, companionship
  • Supportive listening and advocacy
  • Offering communion, baptism and anointing of the sick as well as other spiritual rituals
  • Discussing concerns about procedures or decisions
  • Bereavement services and support

The Interfaith Chapel is available for quiet reflection and prayer. The chapel is located on the first floor of the hospital near the Cafeteria. Roman Catholic Mass takes place every Sunday at 9:30 a.m.; Mondays and Wednesdays at 7:30 a.m.

Our Masjid (Mosque) is open 24 hours daily for Muslim prayer. The Masjid is located on the first floor at the entranceway of the Memorial Medical Plaza and Heart & Vascular Center. Prayer service is scheduled the last Friday of the month.

To arrange a visit from a chaplain or priest, please ask your nurse or dial the hospital operator and ask that the chaplain on duty be paged.

Elkhart General Hospital

At Elkhart General Hospital, we believe that spirituality and faith play an integral role in the health and well-being of our patients, and that for many, it’s a key part of their overall healing process.

Our theologically- and clinically-trained professional chaplains are committed to providing compassionate spiritual care to all Elkhart General Hospital patients and their families and friends. Chaplains can help patients and families cope with illness and injury, end-of-life issues, and other emotional or ethical concerns. The Chapel is open 24 hours a day and is located on the first floor between classrooms 3 and 5. Please feel free to write your prayer requests in the Prayer Request Book located in the chapel and peruse the inspirational materials also found there.

To call a Chaplain, please dial “0” on your bedside phone and ask that the chaplain be paged to your room. You can also ask your nurse to call the Spiritual and Pastoral Care Department. Chaplains are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
