A Salute to Service
Beacon Health System honored all those associates who have bravely served, or are currently serving in the United States Military, during its second annual Salute to Service ceremonies.
Celebrated near the 4th of July Holiday, these special events show our gratitude for the untold sacrifices these associates have shown through their service.
“At Beacon Health System, we are very proud of the dedication of these associates,” said Greg Losasso, President of Elkhart General Hospital who served as emcee at the Elkhart General event. “We are honored that not only have they chosen to serve our Country, but that they have returned home and chosen to continue their life of service to the people of our community.”
Festivities included a benediction from Rev. David Schwabauer, Retired Navy Chaplain and Memorial Hospital Chaplain; the singing of the National Anthem by Jacqueline Kerwin, Director of Finance, Beacon Health Ventures; a flag raising and 21 Gun Salute; the playing of Taps; and a performance by the Elkhart Municipal Band.
“As we celebrate Independence Day, let us all be reminded that our freedom comes at a cost,” added Bev Teegarden, R.N., Vice President of Clinical Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Memorial Hospital, who served as emcee for the Memorial event. “And that we owe a great deal of gratitude and respect to those who have bravely served our country.” See page 6 for a complete listing of the heroes who work among us right here at Beacon.
