The name may not jump out at you, but Community Health Alliance (CHA) has played a key role in health care locally over the last 20 years. CHA, a partnership of Beacon Health System and Medical Associates of Michiana, Inc., is a regional network of physicians, hospitals and other providers that deliver care through employer health plans.

In essence, CHA serves as the bridge between employers and health care providers. Providers accept a discounted fee in return for access to large patient volumes through employers, like the University of Notre Dame, Martin’s Super Market, Teacher’s Credit Union, South Bend Medical Foundation, The South Bend Clinic and St. Joseph County.

“We contract with employers to use our network of providers for their health plan members at discounted rates, creating a cost-effective delivery system for high-quality health services,” says Diane Maas, Beacon Vice President of Managed Care and Business Development.

Though the managed care business remains as competitive as ever, CHA and its outstanding providers continue to be sought by employers across Indiana and Michigan. “We continue to be chosen by local employers as the health provider network option on their health plan, providing access to Beacon hospitals and physicians,” says Diane.
