Celebrate Heart Health Milestone in February
Since the first EKG was performed in 1942, Elkhart General Hospital has dedicated itself to the community to be a pioneer in heart health. Countless lives have been improved and saved, as a result of the outstanding heart care provided by the amazing staff.
In celebration of Elkhart General’s Center for Cardiac Care’s opening 15 years ago, a weeklong celebration will take place in February. The Center for Cardiac Care was added to the third floor of the hospital in 2000, a $14 million, 32,000 square-foot project that included outpatient heart care with three heart surgery suites, two cardiac catheterization labs, an electrophysiology lab and 24 cardiac and critical care beds.
The longtime heart program has been recognized No. 1 in the state for cardiac surgery, in the top 10 in the state for cardiology services, and designated five-star
rated for valve replacement and treatment of heart failure by Healthgrades. Within the last year Elkhart General has proven its continued pledge to serve the community by adding an accredited heart failure clinic, a valve clinic and application for chest pain accreditation. Watch for announcements about special treats and events in honor of this milestone!
