As a locally owned, not-for-profit health system, we fulfill this for everyone, regardless of their financial situation. This requires thoughtful planning and strategic initiatives — standards we use to deliver exceptional care to our community. But our mission and initiatives aren’t just about us. We do it all to care for the people who matter most: our associates, patients and communities. 

Clinical excellence

Each person cared for at Beacon is someone’s loved one. A husband or wife, a mom or dad, a grandparent or a child. There is nothing more important than their health and safety. 

That’s why providing the highest quality care is our top priority. This takes extraordinary commitment from our clinical teams. We always look at new ways to improve our processes and expand our offerings as a regional center of excellence. This includes recruiting the most talented clinical staff and providing the best environment for our clinicians. 

The future of clinical excellence requires agility, creative partnerships and the graceful flow of information among care teams. And we do this to deliver outstanding care — everywhere, every time.

The way we worked changed in 2020. And it became clear that flexible, responsive, engaged teams are necessary for our success moving forward. 

We actively shape our work environment to continue attracting and retaining the best associates and providers. We cultivate a culture of recognition and inclusivity in a workplace that is centered around and provides a sense of purpose for our most important resource: our people.

Customer-driven culture

Today’s digital world has created new ways of doing business and interacting with the people and environments around us. The most successful organizations are those that meet customers where they are through convenience, personalization and superior customer service. 

At Beacon, we’ve always shined at providing excellent clinical care. And through our work on creating a customer-driven culture, we are taking additional steps to provide exceptional service focused on the needs of our customers. This includes expanding our telehealth services, saving spots at urgent care and more.

We’re making it easier to access care — so that our community can be healthier. 

Community

Inspiring health. Connecting with heart. It means connecting with those around us, reaching into our communities to meet people where they are. It’s in our mission. In 2021, we added a new strategic initiative to capture this, aimed at measuring what we hold most dear — Community. 

Health doesn’t just happen within the walls of hospitals, clinics and doctors’ offices. It happens in our homes, our neighborhoods, at work, where we worship, learn and play. Health happens everywhere. Our goal is to create a culture of health throughout our entire communities. We’re doing this with community health needs assessments, health programming, unique community partnerships and more.

Smart growth

The best companies are always learning, growing and evolving. The same is true at Beacon. Growth is an essential part of how we function. It keeps us healthy, vibrant, learning and advancing. 

Smart growth ensures our ability to provide care when and where our community needs it within eight hospitals and more than 130 care sites. These numbers demonstrate our commitment to reaching community members. And these numbers will continue growing.   

But we’re not just growing for its own sake. We consider the services already available locally and the quality of those services so that we can be what, where and how our community needs us. We’re creating the future. We want to best serve our community — five, 10 and 20 years down the road.

Financial sustainability

Our financial stability is essential to achieving all other goals and fulfilling our mission. As a not-for-profit, community-owned organization, we have a responsibility to efficiently manage our health system, ensuring we’re around to care for our community long into the future. 

This means managing our costs, reducing risks and finding ways to be more efficient.

We must be good stewards of the important resources entrusted to us. We reinvest those resources back into our community by hiring exceptional team members, offering new technologies and providing the world-class care our region depends on.
