Beacon Welcomes 1st Chief Medical Officer

Shelly S. Harkins, M.D., has been named Chief Medical Officer for Beacon Health System. Dr. Harkins is working with associates across all areas of the health system to improve quality, safety and improve experiences for patients, physicians and colleagues.

She comes to Beacon from St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, Illinois, where she served as Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Harkins has also served as an Active Duty Faculty Attending Physician and Assistant Professor at Scott Air Force Base Family Medicine Residency Program.

Dr. Harkins’ office will be located in the administration offices on the fifth floor of the MMP Building.
