Beacon’s collaboration with Mayo Clinic provides reassurance to patients with complex cancer diagnoses
Peace of mind when you need it most close to home. That is what Beacon Health System’s collaboration with the Mayo Clinic gives cancer patients and their families.
Beacon is one of more than 45 healthcare organizations across the globe that are members of the Mayo Clinic Care Network. With this collaboration, the Beacon care team has special access to Mayo Clinic’s world-renowned doctors, resources and expertise at no additional cost to patients.
Radiation oncologists, medical oncologists and pathologists at Beacon and Mayo Clinic come together to select the right treatment regimen for patients with complex diagnoses. The collaboration saves the time and financial resources of traveling to a Mayo Clinic location, which is sometimes hundreds of miles away.
“When someone is diagnosed with cancer, that is not an easy time. It’s a difficult time. You want to stay in your community. You want to stay close to your loved ones,” said Dr. Omer Toor, Beacon’s medical director for medical oncology.
