Thrive More: Tips for Living in Your Sweet Spot

Christine Carter

How often are you operating from your sweet spot, when you’re “in the zone,” and time seems to stand still? That place where ease and strength intersect to help you become more productive and even happy?

During the annual Mary Morris Leighton Lecture in mid-October, Christine Carter, PhD, author, sociologist and happiness expert at UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center, offered practical advice on how to make small changes that can help you achieve that optimal state — your sweet spot:

1. Let yourself focus on one thing at a time. Stop multitasking!

2. Find the bright spots in your life and practice gratitude.

3. Practice daydreaming; work up to 20 minutes a day. Your brain needs the break!
