Loud monitors. Harsh lighting. Blinking machines. Crying babies. Crowded rooms. Dr. Bob White, a practicing neonatologist at Beacon Children’s Hospital, knew there could be a better way to care for premature babies.

For 40 years, Dr. White partnered with the University of Notre Dame to spearhead research and create recommendations for NICU design and care. These standards have been implemented in hospitals around the world — including at Beacon — and lead to healthier results for both babies and their families.
