Since arriving at Memorial Regional Cancer Center in 2013, Dr. Ivan Bedoya has been a cornerstone of an expanding program. That growth is due in part to the amazing oncology work of Dr. Bedoya, a physician who exhibits compassion, professionalism and a calming, polite demeanor.
For Dr. Bedoya, the patient always comes first. “It is easy to see his compassion for patients,” explains a coworker. “He always takes the time to truly listen to his patients and never rushes anyone. Dr. Bedoya notices the little things and makes each patient feel important and cared about. He treats his patients like family.”
It’s never enough for him to do the status quo when caring for his patients.
“Dr. Bedoya always goes above and beyond to make sure his patients are aware of what is going on with their health and most importantly that as a team they will work together to beat any kind of diagnosis.”
Because he understands the anxiety felt by patients hearing a cancer diagnosis, Dr. Bedoya will do everything he can to see them as soon as possible in order to develop a treatment plan.
“Dr. Bedoya is an amazing doctor. He is always willing to see patients back-to-back and often forgoes his own lunch to double book new referrals.”
And when he’s not seeing patients, Dr. Bedoya dedicates himself to staying up-to-date on medical information so he can better treat each patient’s unique case.
“He is knowledgeable about the latest treatment practices and is always reviewing the most recent literature to ensure he is providing the best care to his patients.”

Dr. Majid Malik

In a world where people with mental illness can feel alienated, Dr. Majid Malik, a board-certified psychiatrist and sleep medicine physician, makes his patients feel welcomed through compassion and kindness.
“Dr. Malik goes above and beyond to help educate the community as well as staff, patients and families. He is truly invested in patient care. He will come to the unit early in the morning and not leave until each patient has been met and the appropriate care has been provided.”
And that begins with being attentive, respectful and congenial toward his patients. He’ll even find unique ways to connect with patients, such as a game of ping-pong.
“Playing ping-pong meant so much to this patient. Because he took the time to do this, the patient talked about it during their entire stay.”
Dr. Malik is willing to make sacrifices for the betterment of his patients and staff.
“He always has a smile on his face no matter how tired he is. He is always willing to help out as needed because he cares so much about his patients.”
