By the Numbers

Beacon Health System provides care to more than 4,000 patients each day in northern Indiana and southern Michigan. As a not-for-profit, community-governed health system, we target an annual operating income of 4% from our operations. This operating income balances the healthcare needs of the community with the ability to reinvest in the facilities, equipment and talented clinical providers. The accumulated earnings are managed through an investment committee of our volunteer Board and guided by an investment policy which the committee approves and monitors. This is done to obtain financial returns that are then directed back into the organization and community to improve the overall health of the communities we serve and to ensure long-term viability of healthcare for the region.

What Makes Us Tick?

Every day, we get to impact a community member’s life—in small ways like sharing comforting words with a worried family member, and in large ways like saving an injured child. Each moment is an opportunity for us to impact another life. And another. And another.

As the regional leader in comprehensive, integrated services — from childbirth and pediatrics to cancer, trauma, heart and vascular, stroke, orthopedics and sports medicine, surgery, mental health and so much more — Beacon Health System is helping our communities achieve the highest quality of life.
