During Your Visit

Visiting Hours

Visitor Restrictions are in place in accordance with the CDC and Indiana state guidelines.

Rest is an important part of the healing process. Visiting hours allow time for rest and uninterrupted care. We prefer that there be no more than two visitors at any time during regular visiting hours. These times vary from unit to unit. Please refer to the table below for information regarding visiting hours for specific services.

  • Pediatrics/PICU – 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Childbirth Unit – 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • High-Risk OB – 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Children/siblings may visit, except when restrictions apply. Children must be accompanied by an adult who is not the patient. To ensure the safety of comfort of our patients, children may not stay overnight.

Finding Your Way Inside the Hospital

The hospital is organized into different departments and treatment areas. Each elevator is given a different letter designation.  If you need help, please ask a staff member at the main entrance information desk, use one of the service phones, or ask any associate for help.

A free ‘people mover’ shuttle is available to transport visitors and patients on weekdays from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Being Admitted

When you arrive at the hospital, please proceed to the Admitting Office, which is located inside the main lobby of Memorial Hospital. As art of the admission process we contact your insurance company to make sure your hospitalization is pre-approved. While pre-approval doesn’t guarantee payment, your insurance company or doctor’s office will notify you if there are any issues.

Smoking Policy

At Beacon Children’s Hospital, we’re committed to the health of our community. And we know that a smoke-free environment is cleaner and healthier for every person that visits our hospital. Please join us in this effort to make our hospital a safe place for our patients and employees alike.

Safety & Security

You will meet with many healthcare workers during your stay. We require that all physicians and employees wear their ID badges so you can recognize who is taking care of you. Security is available 24 hours a day to assist patients and visitors with escorts to their vehicles, jump-starts, and lockouts, or to address security concerns.

Please do not keep excess personal items with you in the hospital, including jewelry, medications, credit cards and other valuables.

If you do notice something missing, please notify a nurse and we will check the lost and found, but ultimately, we cannot be responsible for the loss of personal items. If you have no way to send valuables home, you may contact a nurse about storing them in a safe in the Security Office. To contact a Security Officer, call 574.647.6920.
