Elkhart General Childbirth Classes
At Elkhart General Hospital, maternity care doesn’t start with the delivery of your baby. We offer services for expectant families months before they actually enter the hospital. Expectant parents may attend our special classes and receive instruction on such topics as breastfeeding, the labor/delivery process, infant CPR, and sibling preparation, as well as complete follow-up care for mother and baby. Newborn/Safety/CPR
Understand baby cues and learn how to comfort and soothe a new baby during the first weeks at home. You’ll also learn what normal appearances look like for a newborn. Learn hands-on training to provide emergency care for your infant and at-home techniques.
Prep for Childbirth
Get to know every aspect of the labor and delivery process, including signs and symptoms of labor, breathing techniques, epidural anesthesia and emergency and scheduled cesarean section. This class also offers a tour of the center.
Labor Express Childbirth
This class is a fast-paced version of Prep for Childbirth, providing an overview of all aspects of the labor and delivery process. This class also offers a tour of the center.
Super Saturday Childbirth
Get to know every aspect of the labor and delivery process in one full day. Topics include the signs and symptoms of labor, breathing techniques, epidural anesthesia and emergency and scheduled cesarean section.
Breastfeeding and Returning to Work or School
Learn techniques to help maintain lactation while you are away from baby. Techniques include ways to express breast milk, proper storage of breast milk and introduction of bottles. We encourage you to bring your baby with you to class.
