Overview

Myofascial pain syndrome involves some muscles and the thin cover of tissue that holds muscles in place, called fascia. Pressure on these areas, called trigger points, causes pain.

Symptoms

Myofascial pain syndrome can cause deep, lasting pain in a muscle or a tender muscle knot.

Treatments

Treatments include physical therapy, medicines, exercise and methods for relaxing.
