Inflammation or irritation of a small sac of fluid, known as the olecranon bursa, on the tip of the elbow.
With olecranon bursitis, the small sac of fluid on the tip of the elbow is inflamed.
The elbow may feel achy or stiff and look swollen or red. Moving or pressing on the elbow also may cause pain.
Treatments include rest, ice and pain relievers. Sometimes drainage and injection with a corticosteroid to reduce inflammation are needed.
