Paget's disease of bone most commonly occurs in the pelvis, skull, spine and legs. Risk factors include increasing age and a family history of the condition. Over time, affected bones may become fragile and misshapen.
The most common complaint is bone pain. Complications include broken bones, hearing loss and pinched nerves in the spine.
Treatment is primarily with osteoporosis medicines called bisphosphonates. Surgery may be necessary if complications occur.
