La Porte and Starke Hospitals Decline Bid to Join Beacon

On Monday, March 30, I received a call from IU La Porte’s Thor Thordarson, CEO and Scott Siefker, Board Chair. They called to let us know that their board vote occurred this morning and that La Porte and Starke Hospitals have declined the opportunity to join Beacon Health System.

We appreciate the time and thoughtful consideration of the IU La Porte team, and wish them well in their endeavors. They have chosen to partner with Community Health Systems, headquartered in Franklin, Tennessee.

Beacon has a longstanding tradition of providing excellence in care to the La Porte and Starke communities. With our La Porte Beacon Medical Group, joint venture surgery center and existing medical campus, we look forward to continuing to serve this community.

I’d like to thank all of our Board members and Associates for the significant time and attention invested in this effort. I am confident that we put our very best foot forward and am pleased with the extensive effort in demonstrating what Beacon has to offer.
