A General Approach to Anemia in Pediatrics

Dr. Sánchez is a dedicated Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist at the Indiana Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center (IHTC), where she combines her extensive training and compassionate approach to provide exceptional care for children with blood disorders. With a strong commitment to improving the health outcomes of her patients, Dr. Sánchez has established themselves as a leading figure in the field of pediatric hematology and oncology.
Dr. Sánchez began their journey in medicine at Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where they earned their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. Their passion for pediatric medicine led him to the University of Cincinnati, where they completed a rigorous Pediatric Residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Following their residency, they pursued specialized training in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology through a fellowship program at the renowned Baylor College of Medicine, specifically at Texas Children’s Cancer & Hematology Center. Dr. Sánchez further honed their research skills by participating in the Clinical Scientist Training Program at Baylor College of Medicine, focusing on clinical investigation to advance the field of pediatric hematology.
Dr. Sánchez is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is board eligible in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology. They hold an Indiana State Medical License, which enables them to provide care and advocate for their patients within the state.
Dr. Sánchez’s commitment to diversity and inclusion in the medical field has earned them several prestigious honors. They were awarded the Jeanne Marie Lusher Diversity Fellowship Award by the National Hemophilia Foundation, recognizing their efforts to promote diversity in hematology. Additionally, they received the Minority Hematology Fellow Award from the American Society of Hematology, highlighting his potential to make significant contributions to the field. In recognition of their leadership and impact on the youth of the Dominican Republic, they were nominated for the National Youth Award by the Ministry of Youth.
Dr. Sánchez is an active member of various professional organizations, which allows them to stay at the forefront of advancements in pediatric hematology and oncology. She is deeply invested in the education and mentorship of the next generation of medical professionals, consistently advocating for the needs of underrepresented communities in healthcare.
