Operation Easter Baskets

ft1-easterThanks to the kindness of Associates in Finance, Information Systems, Human Resources and Patient Accounts, dozens of needy kids received Easter baskets on Easter Sunday. Beacon’s Finance Department reached out to the other departments for help in providing Easter baskets to children and adolescents dealing with emotional issues at Oaklawn’s children’s campus in Mishawaka.

As a result, 36 Easter baskets were delivered to Oaklawn (24 from Finance and 12 from Patient Accounts) on April 4 and 14 baskets (from HR and IS) were delivered on April 15, along with a $60 cash donation to be used to pay for additional baskets. The baskets included all sorts of goodies: candy, toys, cards and other kid-friendly items.

“It was awesome. The kids were so excited when they received the baskets on Easter Sunday,” says Julie Flickinger, recreational therapist at Oaklawn. “We are very thankful to Beacon for their generosity.”

Samantha Pratt, Beacon Senior Accountant, was just as pleased by the outpouring of charitable support by her fellow Associates. “I am so grateful that so many people contributed to this effort to help the children,” says Samantha. “It just shows how much our people care for others.”
