Summit Project Update

logo-summitOn January 7, the first phase of the Summit three-phase improvement project began in the Memorial Hospital Emergency Department (ED). Since then, Summit teams including ED physicians and clinicians have been busy meeting and developing processes to help streamline patient care.

The ED Summit Team has worked through the process designs and are now gearing up to implement change. The first change is going to occur in Triage, which is the intake process. Look for this to take place within the next couple of weeks.

The structure of the ED will also change. In the near future, Memorial ED will be divided into four zones. Each zone will be assigned a physician, nurses, unit assistants and registrars. Zones will allow for a team approach which will improve communication and collaboration among team members.

Working together as a team and increased communication will allow for a better patient-care experience and improved throughout. The ED is also working with the inpatient and ancillary departments so they can provide the best patient experience from the time they arrive in the ED to discharge.

Look for Summit Project updates on our Intranet, email and The Beam.
