What’s up with ICD 10?

Did you know that ICD-10 that WAS going to be implemented this October is now delayed? A law was recently passed that delays ICD-10 for at least one year. The specific language says that the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) cannot adopt ICD-10 before October 2015, and therefore does not require or mandate a new date. We are waiting for guidance from the Secretary of HHS, which we anticipate will be within the next 120 days.

We have a corporate steering committee that is working on our current plans to determine the pace of how we proceed. At a high level we will complete our software upgrades. Also, we are continuing coding and documentation training, but are delaying formal physician training until 2015. Stay tuned for additional details.
