TODAY Show Honors Beacon Mom
TODAY Show correspondent Jenna Wolf interviews Linda Mochel, R.N., who was surprised when all of her 10 children appeared with NBC’s TODAY Show May 8 at Memorial Hospital. As part of the surprise in honor of Mother’s Day, the devoted mother and nurse also received a 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid.
A special surprise awaited 12 South Nurse Linda Mochel on May 7. After working a 12-hour night shift, her manager, Jennifer Pierce, arranged for Linda to be escorted to the main entrance of Memorial Hospital for a special meeting. When she got there, TODAY Show correspondent Jenna Wolfe and an entire TODAY Show production crew were waiting for her with an amazing surprise.
One of Linda’s daughters had nominated her for NBC’s TODAY Show’s “Mom’s the Word” contest. Linda was chosen from more than 800,000 nominations from across the country. Her daughter spoke of how amazing her mom was, and how she had worked nights for more than 28 years so that she could stay home with her kids during the day.
Linda was shocked to see all of her 10 children, who welcomed her with flowers and balloons, and many happy tears. But the fun didn’t end there. Linda was then escorted outside the main entrance of the hospital where she was given the keys to a brand new Ford Fusion Hybrid. This was a very special moment for Linda and her entire family. Beacon Health System is very proud of Linda, and is very grateful for all she does for her family and her community!
