Construction Corner

post-construction-cornerWith more than 45 facilities in three counties, there is usually a construction project of some kind taking place within Beacon Health System. We want to keep you in-the-know about these projects, so look for updates in The Beam.

The Elkhart General Surgery Department expansion is in the sixth month of construction, a $74 million state-of-the-art project that includes replacing and updating surgical suites. Although winter affected the construction schedule, activity is picking up, with structural steel completion anticipated by mid-May, followed by installation of the building facade. Primarily composed of glass, decorative metal panels and precast concrete, the façade will emulate the existing West Wing building, enhancing the west side of the campus. During summer, delivery and installation of primary mechanical and electrical equipment will begin. Located on the third level of the building, the new equipment will provide service to the new fourth and fifth floors.
