In the Spotlight: Environmental Services
Keeping your home clean can be a difficult, ongoing task. Just imagine if you had to clean and maintain multiple buildings, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year? Not so easy.
Beacon Environmental Services and its more than 150 associates at Elkhart General, Memorial Epworth Center and Memorial Hospital help create a place of healing and rest for our patients. In addition to their meticulous attention to cleanliness in patient rooms, clinical spaces, and other public areas, they are among are most important associates because of their ongoing presence and interaction with patients and their families.
“At Beacon we strive to keep the patient at the center of everything that we do and perhaps nothing demonstrates that more than the great work that all of our Environmental Services staff do each and every day,” says Elkhart General President Greg Losasso. “Not only are the facilities clean and well maintained which creates a comfortable environment for our patients, but some of the very best ambassadors of guest service come from Environmental Services.”
We are grateful to Environmental Services for not only making our hospitals shine (literally!), but also a place of comfort and healing.
Elkhart General Environmental Services is managed by Kathy Pearson. Supervisors include Jackie Earnhart, Mike Ambrose, Deb Myers and Doug Perkey, along with Tom Pavoni.
Memorial Environmental Services is managed by Matt Curry. Supervisors include Steve Spurrier, Jhonny Aguero, Nazario Ortiz and Rusty Toombs. The coordinator is Amy Geyer.
There are many departments at Beacon who may not play a direct role in patient caregiving, but whose presence and duties are integral parts of the overall quality of health care we offer. In coming editions of The Beam, we will be highlighting various departments so you can better see why every department at Beacon is needed to help make us the leading health care system in the region.
