Kayla Grove: Elkhart General Associate of the Year

Kayla Grove began working in Elkhart General’s Oncology Unit as an intern while in high school in 2006. She worked in various locations at Elkhart General over the next six years, before transferring to Oncology in 2012 to work as a secretary. Kayla responded to her true calling – patient care – and graduated as a registered nurse in 2013.

As a new nurse she has excelled as a leader in Oncology, taking on the role of charge nurse and an active member of the unit council. Kayla has helped drive initiatives to raise HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) scores for Oncology and has led presentations highlighting the unit’s work. Always willing to roll up her sleeves, she has contributed to many projects throughout the year.

Kayla has such a giving spirit and it shows in the care she delivers to her patients each day. Patients look forward to seeing Kayla’s smile at 7 p.m. when she arrives at work. They express how she is so attentive, compassionate and friendly – making them feel like they are her only patient.

An excellent role model, she is passionate about teamwork and the customer-service experience. She puts others needs above her own, and is always smiling and willing to share her knowledge with others. Kayla could not be more deserving of this recognition as associate of the year for Elkhart General. She truly exemplifies the values of Beacon Health System.
