In the Spotlight: Home Care Warehouse
Many Beacon associates and patients are familiar with the services and duties of Home Care, but few realize the extensive work done behind the scenes in the Warehouse
Division of Home Care. Described as the “unsung heroes of the Home Medical Equipment Division,” warehouse associates serve as the face of Home Care as they interact daily with clients.
“Because of the services we provide, hospital patients are able to continue their care in the comfort of their surroundings,” says Jerry Gray, Operations Manager, Memorial Home Care. Whether a short-term patient, for example those who undergo procedures like a knee surgery, or those in need of long-term care, the Warehouse Division is able to provide clients with the all-important equipment and products they need to heal at home.
The Warehouse Division performs duties such as the delivery and set up of home medical equipment and products in clients’ homes, repairing client-owned equipment (such as motorized wheelchairs and stair lifts) as well as cleaning, testing and repairing rental equipment before it is issued to new clients.
The Warehouse Division has four warehouses, the main one located in South Bend and three others in Elkhart, LaPorte and Knox. These warehouses are home to critical
supplies including liquid and compressed oxygen, electric beds, wheelchairs and ramps, nebulizers, patient lifts and stair lifts. Thank you to this diligent team of associates who keep clients happy with tip top equipment and excellent customer service.
