Stroke Team Honored for Quality and Service

Congratulations to Patti Buss, Dusten Roe and Nicole Riordan, M.D., for receiving Memorial Hospital’s inaugural “Chipping Away” award!

“This recognition is given to a group that makes significant improvement in quality and/or service and significantly helps us on our journey to be in the Top 100 Hospitals in the next three years, also known as Project Everest,” says Steve Huffman, President, Memorial Hospital. “There were many who helped them, however they clearly led the charge!”

The team developed all of the care protocols and policies required to move toward stroke certification.

The team also:

  • Implemented advanced stroke care, identifying potential stroke cases earlier
  • Instituted care planning to manage stroke patients at a world-class level
  • Achieved incredibly high ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke quality over the last six months

(L-R) Patti Buss, R.N., BSN, CCRN, Neuroscience Program Liaison; Emergency Medicine physician Nicole Riordan, M.D.; and Dusten Roe, R.N., MSN, CCRN, pose with Memorial Hospital President Steve Huffman upon receiving the first-ever “Chipping Away” award.
