A Major Safety Achievement for Elkhart General

The Indiana State Department of Health created the Medical Error Reporting System in 2006 to enhance patient safety in hospitals. The purpose is to reduce the frequency of medical errors, reveal the causes of medical errors and empower health care professionals to design methods to prevent or discover errors to enhance patient safety.

Beacon Health System is committed to providing the highest level of safety to our patients. In 2014, Elkhart General showed just how dedicated it was to this effort by having zero Indiana State Department of Health reportable events.

A celebration took place in April at Elkhart General to recognize this outstanding achievement. A breakfast event provided a time to thank associates for the great work they do in many ways to put patient safety first every day in all interactions.
