Department Spotlight: Beacon Medical Group Centralized Scheduling

For many patients seeking care at a Beacon Medical Group practice, often the first interaction they will have is with one of the 21 associates in the Beacon Medical Group Centralized Scheduling Department. With an average monthly call volume of 33,000, this team is dedicated to delivering prompt and personal attention each time the line rings.

“Our department schedules for 10 offices, which equals 39 different providers,” explains Andrea Vernier, Office Supervisor. All told, the schedulers make about 11,000 appointments each month. Most associates answer about 100 calls during an eight-hour shift; some reach 150 or more.

“Our associates must provide excellent customer service and have a smile in their voices every time they answer the phone,” says Andrea.

The ability to remain calm when responding to patients’ urgent or anxious calls is also valuable and helps get patients to the right level of care at the right time.

“We have an awesome team; they are all hard-working, dedicated people who put the patient first each and every time,” says Andrea.
