When the Wacky Happens

As we enter the New Year, so too comes the unpredictability of a Michiana winter. It’s important that we ensure a safe environment for staff and patients, especially when unforeseen adverse events make it difficult to maintain normal operations in your department.

Here are several things to remember:
• Directors/managers are responsible for informing their staff and all scheduled patients of their department/unit closing.
• Directors/managers are responsible for communicating essential staffing needs, including management order of succession.
• Directors/managers are also encouraged to remind staff to make personal preparedness plans (child care plans in case schools are closed, etc.).
• Marketing communicates with the media if Beacon retail operations, including MedPoint, Health & Lifestyle Center, HealthWorks! Kids’ Museum and certain Beacon Medical Group locations are closed.
