Dena Makes Top 40 List
Congratulations to Dena Garnett, physical therapist in Memorial Hospital’s Outpatient Services, for being named to the esteemed Michiana Forty Under 40. Dena, who started at Memorial in 2007, joins a prestigious group of regional business and professional leaders who have demonstrated career success and community engagement before the age of 40.
Dena, who has a doctorate in physical therapy and is a certified brain injury specialist, has been an instrumental part of Memorial’s outpatient therapy team. Co-Leader of Memorial’s Stroke Support Group, she expanded treatment options for those with Parkinson’s disease by offering BIG therapy and collaborated with Beacon Health & Fitness to bring the CLIMB Program to South Bend. She also was the first in the area to work with ReWalk, a bionic walking assistance system, to train and rehabilitate a person with a spinal cord injury.
In the community, Dena volunteers for Reins of Life, where she provides horse-assisted therapy for mentally and physically challenged children and adults, as well as for La Casa de Amistad, where she uses her Spanish-speaking skill sets to help Latino children in South Bend.
