Thank You Letters!
There are thank yous, and then there are thank yous! Read two such letters of gratitude below. Sometimes we don’t realize the work we all do for our patients every day leaves a lasting impact on them. Be prepared to be inspired!
Dear Mr. Newbold,
I just wanted to let you know what a great experience we had at Memorial Hospital. My 7-year-old daughter Alana had an appendicitis on Jan. 25 and had to have emergency surgery. Every single person we encountered at Memorial was kind, compassionate and helpful. The wait in the ER was five hours but the triage nurse saw how sick Alana was and got us a room right away. From then on from the doctors and nurses to the people who cleaned our rooms were so great to us. I know everyone was busy but no one seemed rushed or impatient. She was admitted to the pediatrics unit after surgery and all the nurses and staff were so patient with Alana.
There was a child life specialist who met us in the ER and she explained all the procedures to Alana. She went back to the OR with her and stayed with her until she was up to her room. I wish I could remember all the staff members’ names who were with us but I can’t.
Again, I thank you. I hope that no one in my family will need to be admitted to the hospital, but if we do we will come straight to Memorial. Keep up the amazing work and feel free to share this letter with any employees.
Sincerely,
Amy Thibault

Elkhart General Hospital,
Last October I came to your facility seeking relief for an ankle with a tennis ball size abnormality on both sides of it. I was examined, and despite an A 1 C blood sugar level that they had never seen before, they graciously decide to try to save it. I was operated on by the very competent surgeon, Dr. Julia Pagano. My diabetes was rescued by your beloved Dr. Kareem Selim. I was then nursed back to health by the best team of angels (nurses and support staff) available. And if that was not enough, the financial staff went above and beyond, searching out any and every avenue to help pay for the kind of care no amount of money can buy.
The efforts did not stop there as the expert care of your staff placed a pick in my arm to administer antibiotics by the fantastic nurses in the ambulatory infusion center on a daily basis for a month to battle the infection that would have claimed my foot as good as gone. And last but not at all the least, your wound care nurse Becky Gute came down to the infusion center three times a week to change the infection vacuum on the ankle which was the changing factor that saved my foot.
Once again I received the kind of care at your facility that no amount of money can buy. Thank you, and thank you very, very, very much to the “ALL STAR” staff found at our Elkhart General Hospital.
“A Five-Star Facility”
Keep up the good work,
Scott Peterson
