Be a Beacon Tip of the Month – Be Caring
Be a Beacon is all about who we are and what kind of organization we want to be. Remember, Be a Beacon is made up of six parts that take a look at ways we can ensure our patients and co-workers are having amazing experiences in environments that are healing, friendly and fun!
Every month, we are highlighting one part. So far, we have revisited Be Well and Be Present. This month, we will take a closer look at Be Caring.
Every person –– whether they work directly with patients in health care or not –– is called to develop caring relationships in life. And at the center of being caring is empathy. What is empathy? It’s the ability to see the world through someone else’s eyes. It creates a greater understanding for us about what’s going on with another person, and that deeper understanding leads us to compassion and kindness.
