Labeled as “one of the best doctors I have dealt with” by a staff member, Dr. Sameer Khalid, a hospitalist at Elkhart General Hospital, is this month’s Rockin’ Doc.

Personable, compassionate and genuine, Dr. Khalid is well-respected and liked by staff and patients, alike.

“Dr. Khalid introduces himself and shakes every patient’s hand. He sits down with patients, gives them the time to ask questions and explains things in layman’s terms. Dr. Khalid treats patients with the utmost respect.”

As one staff member puts it, “He is always advocating for his patients to make sure they get the best care possible.”

One patient recalled an especially memorable encounter with Dr. Khalid. “I really can’t say enough to explain the great experience and feeling we had about our experience with him,” says a patient.

Nursing staff appreciates how much he values their input on patient care. “He asks our opinion which shows us we are respected by him and he trusts our knowledge. That alone makes a difference in my job satisfaction.”

It’s easy to see that Dr. Khalid loves being a physician. “He smiles, jokes and is a great doctor to work with,” explains a staff member. “He genuinely cares about his patients and his nursing staff, making sure we have what we need to help the patients. He’s my favorite doctor.”
