Comedian. Mentor. Father figure. These are just a few of the hats that Dr. Willie Donald wears in addition to Doctor.
Dr. Donald goes above and beyond in the ways he cares for his patients at Beacon Medical Group Maternal Fetal Medicine.
“I’ve seen how attentive and caring he is to his patients. They absolutely adore him,” explains a staff member.
He often takes the time to sit down with patients and explain any complications they may be having, going so far as to draw illustrations by hand, if needed, to help patients understand complex things.
Staff members are particularly fond of the way Dr. Donald balances quality and efficiency, trying to keep things moving while never allowing a patient to feel rushed.
“With one hand on the patient’s shoulder, he truly shows he cares. I love hearing our patients say, ‘He is great!’”
But that’s not all. A staff member pointed out his thoughtfulness toward patients.
“When a patient expressed concern that she couldn’t afford a winter coat, he went out and bought her one and brought it back to the hospital for her before she was discharged. That was very inspiring.”
It’s his sense of compassion that encourages staff members to exceed patients’ expectations. A genuine team player, he has a healthy balance of professionalism and humor.
“Dr. Donald is truly amazing. He is the first person in the office to notice if someone is having a bad day or if there is just something on their mind. More than anything, I feel valued and respected when I work with Dr. Donald and that is worth more to me than higher pay and benefits put together.”
