Swetha Chitta, MD

Dr. Chitta received her medical degree from Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in India and completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria, OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, in Peoria, Illinois.
A member of the American College of Physicians, Dr. Chitta was a volunteer physician at Sister Maura Brannick, CSC, Health Center in South Bend and assisted with polio immunization efforts in India.

Michael Messmer, DO

Dr. Messmer received his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania, and completed his residency at St. James Health Center in Chicago and his fellowship at Metro Health Hospital and Health Centers in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Board-certified in family practice and sports medicine, Dr. Messmer has worked as Sports Medicine Medical Director at Mount Carmel Medical Group in Columbus, Ohio, and at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka, Kansas. He has also worked as team physician for two professional teams, the Columbus Rugby Club, and the Columbus Eagles women’s soccer team. Additionally, he is the team physician for the U.S. Olympic Weightlifting team, covering both national and international events.
Dr. Messmer is Medical Director for Beacon Health & Fitness, which includes the Sports Performance Clinic at Beacon Medical Group Sports Medicine Mishawaka. His medical interests are in non-surgical orthopedics including regenerative orthopedic medicine encompassing prolotherapy, platelet rich plasma therapy and percutaneous tenotomies for chronic tendon and ligament conditions. His biggest passion is helping his patients achieve their goals. Dr. Messmer is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys backpacking and spending time with his family.

Javed Malik, DO
Hematology and Medical Oncology

Dr. Malik received his medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University and completed both his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in hematology and oncology at Franciscan Alliance St. James Health/Midwestern University.
Dr. Malik is board-certified in internal medicine and board-eligible in hematology and oncology. He served on the Cancer Committee and Tumor Board at St. James Health and is currently a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Chicago Lymphoma Rounds, the American Osteopathic Association and the American Society of Hematology.
Dr. Malik is an advocate for cancer prevention and speaks frequently on the topic in our community. He has a special interest in the treatment of multiple solid tumors including breast, lung, colon and prostate cancers. He and his wife enjoy hiking, biking and traveling.

Lauren Das, MD
Radiation Oncology

Dr. Das received her medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed her residency training in radiation oncology at the University of Chicago, Department of Radiation and Cellular Oncology. During her residency training, she served as a chief resident and completed a master’s degree in clinical research for health professionals at the University of Chicago, Department of Public Health Sciences.
Prior to her medical training, she received her bachelor’s degree in biology with a concentration in genetics from Duke University. Dr. Das has participated in a wide variety of research pursuits and is a member of several professional organizations including the American Society for Radiation Oncology, the American Brachytherapy Society, the Radiological Society of North America, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American College of Radiation Oncology.
She has special interests in intensity-modulated radiation therapy, stereotactic body radiation therapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, brachytherapy, image-guided radiation therapy and other advanced techniques.

Abhishek Das, MD
Interventional Pain Management

Dr. Das is a fellowship trained Interventional Pain Physician who is also board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He received his medical degree from Rosalind
Franklin University of Medicine and Science in Chicago and completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Loyola University. At Loyola, he served as the Chief Resident and also received the Magis Award for exemplary patient care. Following his residency training, he completed an ACGME accredited, multidisciplinary, interventional pain management fellowship at the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Das believes in utilizing a multi-disciplinary approach to facilitate the comprehensive management of chronic pain. His primary goals are functional restoration and improvement in the quality of life through the reduction of pain. He has a variety of clinic interests and is trained in treating all types of pain symptoms. His particular interests include: acute and chronic pain of the back and neck, complex regional pain syndrome, musculoskeletal pain, neuropathic pain, neuromodulation with the use of spinal cord stimulation, and cancer pain.
