Officer’s Heroic Deed Saves Woman’s Life
Memorial Security officer Brandon Sharp was recently recognized by the staff of Memorial Epworth Center (Sarah Paturalski, Kari Diedrich-Fritz and Liz Saillant) for his heroic efforts in saving the life of a woman who was threatening to take her life in late October near the East Race Waterway.
Brandon, while conducting routine rounds around Epworth Center and Epworth Hospital, knew something was awry when he noticed a pair of shoes lying on the ground. As he looked around, Brandon observed a person running towards the back of Epworth Hospital, where two individuals were attempting to prevent a woman from jumping off the bridge. Without a moment’s hesitation, he ran and grabbed the woman. He managed to radio his captain to call 911, while at the same time keeping the woman safe until police arrived. We salute Brandon for his dedication and willingness to go above and beyond in saving a life!
