Dr. Morrison, a Rockin’ Doc
Congratulations to Dr. Colleen Morrison, a Rockin’ Doc at Memorial Hospital!
In the ever-changing world of pediatric hematology/oncology care, Dr. Morrison is a source of strength, steadiness and compassion for patients, families and staff members alike.
She works continuously to stay current on the newest care available for her patients, including networking with pediatric hematologist/oncologists around the country to develop the most comprehensive treatment plans possible.
At the same time, she is adept at interpreting protocols so that parents and families can understand them.
“She meets the parents where they are with their child’s life-changing diagnosis with knowledge, professionalism, warmth and respect for the family’s situation,” says one staff member. “She has a very calm and unassuming demeanor that helps parents and patients connect with her to enhance their level of care.”
Dr. Morrison’s devotion to her patients is endless — clearly each one makes an imprint upon her heart. In addition to her excellent medical care, she always looks for ways to collaborate with the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology team to help patients and their families feel nurtured.
Whether it’s enlisting the help of a child life specialist to ease fear around a procedure or linking the family to a social worker for support during the stress of a life-threatening diagnosis, she never stops asking, “What else can I do for my patient?”
Staff members easily recognize that Dr. Morrison is a rare find. Day or night, team members know they can call her with questions or concerns. “Often during those late-night calls, she even takes the time to educate staff so we can provide our kids with the very best care.”
Through her actions, caring attitude and commitment to her team, Dr. Morrison defines what it means to be an awesome, Rockin’ Doc!
