Share your story: Acts of kindness
Random acts of kindness happen all around us.
Your child leaves you an unexpected note. The person in line ahead of you at a restaurant drive-through picks up your tab. Someone goes out of their way to make you feel valued, special, or loved — just because.
Special moments of goodness happen every day at Beacon, too, as we set out to create exceptional experiences for our patients, families and guests. We recently received this heartwarming story:
“I was in line buying muffins and coffee for my family when I realized I’d left my wallet in the car. The guy behind me and the cashier both volunteered to pick up my tab. The doctor “won” and Dr. Dyer ended up buying my family breakfast. Why it mattered so much to me is because I wasn’t wearing my badge. I’m an employee at Beacon and he didn’t know that. He also didn’t know that my mother was intubated on Critical Care and my family was preparing for her to undergo her third surgery in a week. This was after we’d already spent over a month in Critical Care and then at a long-term Critical Care facility just a few months before, so we were pretty nervous about her procedure. It was a small gesture and it really meant a lot to me, considering the circumstances.” – J
