Doc Halo is here!

What is DOC HALO? DOC HALO is a secure, web-based application that doctors, nurses, and staff may use to communicate patient-related information. DOC HALO provides encrypted, HIPAA-compliant messaging to keep patient health information secure.

DOC HALO is the only Beacon-approved clinical text messaging application. DOC HALO will be replacing DocBooks which has been in use at Elkhart General Hospital as another approved clinical texting application. The cost, functionality and ease of maintenance of DOC HALO makes it a better long-term solution for Beacon.

DOC HALO will be implemented in phases over the next few months. The first phase is a pilot study which will be secure text messaging and secure image capture. Champion users in the DOC HALO pilot study Phase 1 will be trained next week and will be going live September 12, 2017. Later phases will include additional access for a majority of Beacon clinical associates and Medical Staff members. Once the texting functionality is in use, we will implement call schedule and phone directory functionality within the DOC HALO platform.

Doc Halo users may access Doc Halo on a smart phone (both Android and iOS), from within PowerChart, and from the Beacon Health System Intranet page.
