Touching the lives of thousands of moms, babies

Anita Willis, RNC, left, and Sandy Snyder, RNC, right, check in on Kaelynn Burke and her newborn son Zeke Kitts late Wednesday morning. Willis and Snyder retired that day.

12,000 babies. And that’s a modest estimate.

Anita Willis, RNC, and Sandy Snyder, RNC, retired this week after 55 years combined in nursing, much of it spent in the Labor & Delivery Unit at Memorial. Together, they not only touched the lives and hearts of thousands of patients, but also the lives and hearts of families and friends who joined them in witnessing the miracle of birth.

Willis and Snyder say they have delivered at least 12,000 babies over the years, but probably more.

Each mom and delivery was different, and each birth and baby were special, the nurses told The South Bend Tribune.

Thank you, Anita and Sandy, for your many years of service and dedication to the Memorial Hospital Labor & Delivery team and the moms and families we serve.

You will be missed!
