Elkhart couple feels appreciated for their time, service

Like many volunteers, Ann Wierzbicki needed something to do after she retired. Elkhart General Hospital seemed to be a good fit.

“Being a volunteer gives purpose to my life,” Ann says, “Knowing that I’m helping where there is a need — it’s a great feeling.”

Interacting with people is a big plus, too, for someone who is retired. “Everyone at Elkhart General Hospital is so appreciative of the volunteers that it’s a joy to be there,” she adds.

Her husband, Dan, started volunteering as a Redcoat to give back to the community.

“The expression of appreciation I get from a great number of the patients and staff gives me so much satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment,” Dan says.
