Memorial earns high score for patient safety

Memorial was one of just 750 hospitals in the country awarded an “A” from the Leapfrog Group, an organization that aims to improve health care quality and safety for consumers. Memorial was awarded an “A” for the last reporting period in Fall 2017, too.

The safety grade is based on 27 metrics, including performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms among patients in the hospital’s care.

“Receiving an ‘A’ Safety Grade means a hospital is among the best in the country for preventing these terrible problems and putting their patients first, 24 hours a day,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group.

“The ‘bricks and mortar’ of Memorial Hospital are not what make us special — It’s you…each one of you,” Larry Tracy, Memorial Hospital president, wrote in his message to associates for National Hospital Week. “You make our organization come to life with what you do and how you do it. Every patient…every time.”
