Compassion and collaboration define Rockin’ Dr. Kathryn Kenney

Congratulations to Dr. Kathryn Kenney of Elkhart General Hospital and Beacon Medical Group Specialties Mishawaka for being a Doc Who Rocks!

A Rockin’ Doc is a physician who brings his or her best to Beacon Health System each day. Associates and colleagues nominated Dr. Kenney for this distinction because she makes authentic and trustworthy personal connections to create moments that matter for patients, families and staff members. Here are some of the reasons why her Beacon team members think Dr. Kenney rocks:

·        When I think about excellent patient care and all the high standards we place on physicians and what “ideally” we would want and expect from them, that thinking and wondering stops with Dr. Kenney. She is action, she is patience, she is EXCEPTIONAL. She consistently demonstrates what keeping patients at the center means, working collaboratively to provide the needed care and treatment. She is thorough in her work in caring for not only patients’ minds and mental health but also psychosocial dynamics to provide the best care and treatment for them. She does all this with kindness, respect, compassion, and grace and is typically rockin’ a pair of heels! She is bright and considerate, and has that something special that we all hope to find and have in a person helping us, oftentimes at our most vulnerable.

·        She always approaches our unit with a smile. Before she leaves, she asks if there is anything else we need from her.

·        Dr. Kenney communicates with me like a valued member of the team. She takes all staff members’ and families’ concerns into consideration.

·        Dr. Kenney impresses me with how she addresses all needs of our patients. Most of the time, those needs are simple, such as the patient likes warm milk at night with her medications. She always sits down with patients and takes her time. I feel she is here for us as much as she is here for our patients.
