New model of care: Beacon Granger Hospital opens doors to community
Beacon Health System on Monday opened the new $25.8 million Beacon Granger Hospital, the first small acute care hospital in the region, located at 3220 Beacon Parkway.
Beacon Granger comprises 32,800 square feet on about 2 acres located near the northwest corner of Beacon Parkway and Capital Avenue, off the Indiana Toll Road’s Mishawaka exit, across from Beacon Health & Fitness. The one-story hospital is designed to streamline around-the-clock emergency care and treatment for patients conveniently close to home.
“This new model of care is one of the ways we are actively preparing for the future of healthcare,” said Diane Maas, Beacon Health System Chief Strategy Officer.
The facility contains a 16-bed emergency department with sophisticated diagnostic equipment.
South Bend Emergency Physicians, whose board-certified doctors have been staffing the Memorial Hospital emergency department for more than 40 years, will provide emergency services at the facility. Beacon Granger will use a team-based model to provide efficient patient care, said Dr. Nicole Riordan, Beacon Granger Hospital Medical Director.
“We started with a vision and applied our filter of clinical knowledge and experience to create a facility that would bring excellent care and convenience to the community,” Riordan said. “We paid special attention to optimizing the patient experience, from adding new technologies to maximizing the usage of natural light. From a clinical perspective, it has been a satisfying and creative process to build a hospital from the ground up.”
Patients can expect the same level of clinical excellence and compassionate care at Beacon Granger Hospital that the health system is trusted to provide at more than 70 locations across the region.
