Uptick in number of COVID-positive patients continues across Beacon
Community Hospital of Bremen
Community Hospital of Bremen continues to see an uptick in the number of COVID-positive patients. Drive-through testing rates continue to increase, with 20 to 30 daily tests and a peak number of 47 late last week.
Overall, Marshall County has seen approximately 1,300 positive cases to date.
Elkhart General Hospital
Elkhart General Hospital’s numbers continue to increase, with 35 positive COVID-positive patients in-house Monday, four of those in Critical Care. Total Critical Care census is 15. Last weekend, an additional four rooms were opened up on 6NE, increasing bed capacity on that unit from eight to 12.
We are currently looking at ways to increase staffing to open up an additional overflow unit.
Memorial Hospital of South Bend
Memorial also continues to see an increase in the number of positive COVID cases, though numbers are slightly down over the last few days. The hospital was able to come off diversion and reopen to ambulances on Friday.
Surgeries are being looked at on a case-by-case basis, to see which may need to be rescheduled in order to accommodate these increasing numbers.
