Beacon gives out more than 5,000 turkeys, donates 2,200 to local charities

Memorial Hospital of South Bend President Larry Tracy hands a turkey to a Beacon associate.

To thank them for all their hard work and dedication over the past year, Beacon Health System last week handed out more than 5,000 turkeys to our team members.

“In a year where our healthcare heroes have given all they have and more to fight COVID-19,” said Beacon Health System CEO Kreg Gruber, “this is just one small gesture to thank them for their service to our community.”

Elkhart General Hospital President Carl Risk, second from right, stands with other Beacon leaders.

Our team members whose Thanksgiving plans did not include turkey generously donated more than 2,000 turkeys to local charities, including the Food Bank of Northern Indiana.

“We want each Beacon associate to know that we are extraordinarily grateful for the compassionate care they provide every day,” Gruber said.

Beacon leaders personally handed out turkeys at three Beacon hospital campus locations: Community Hospital of Bremen, Elkhart General Hospital and Memorial Hospital of South Bend, and at more than 70 Beacon sites across the region.
