Elkhart General Hospital designated a Clean Facility by Association for the Health Care Environment
The Association for the Healthcare Environment has designated Elkhart General Hospital as a Clean Facility, confirming the hospital’s commitment to infection prevention, cleanliness and preparedness for biological events.
The AHE recently released the Pathways to Clean certificate program in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. “This program could not have come at a better time with the COVID-19 pandemic devastating our region,” said Steve Spurrier, Environmental Services Director at Elkhart General Hospital.
“Now more than ever, it is critically important that we practice impeccable disinfecting and infection prevention principles,” Spurrier said. “My team and I have never felt more confident that we are truly providing a clean facility for our patients, visitors and staff.”
The recognized authority in health care environmental services, AHE is the professional organization of choice for professionals responsible for caring for the patient and resident care environment across all care settings.
“The EVS Team works very hard to ensure that we have a clean environment to provide patient care and they take great pride in doing so,” said Elkhart General Hospital President Carl Risk.
Risk echoed the importance of the AHE’s values in Elkhart General’s past, present and future, and how thankful he is for the Environmental Services team at the hospital. “Having a clean environment helps us achieve our mission and I am grateful for and proud of our EVS Team. I would like to congratulate and thank Steve Spurrier and the entire Environmental Services Team at Elkhart General Hospital on achieving the Clean Facility Designation.”
