Project teams celebrate first concrete pour for new Memorial Patient Tower with Miraculous Medal Ceremony

Last week, a Miraculous Medal Ceremony took place at Memorial Hospital of South Bend to inspire the construction team to complete the new Memorial Patient Tower safely.

The ceremony and medal tossing into the fresh concrete is a long-standing tradition for The Walsh Group at the first pour on its job sites.

Memorial Hospital President Larry Tracy also tossed a special “Campus Redevelopment” coin into the concrete to mark and celebrate the momentous occasion.

Don Gee, Manager of Construction Projects, and Tomas Howard, Project Lead, also attended the ceremony from the Memorial Hospital team.

Standing side-by-side with members of Walsh team, each tossed a Miraculous Medal into the concrete. Construction is underway in the center of the Memorial campus in downtown South Bend.

The new 10-story Patient Tower is scheduled for completion in 2026.
